Jenna Perusek, LCMHC (NC), LPC (SC), CFMHE, CPIA
Psychotherapist & Forensic Mental Health Evaluator
About Jenna I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in Waxhaw, NC — a Florida native who landed here about eight years ago under fairly simple circumstances: my husband and I were ready for something new, I was tasked to pick a state, picked North Carolina, he found a job, and we moved without knowing a single person or anything about the town we were moving to. It's been home ever since.
I've been in this field for over a decade, and I genuinely enjoy what I do. Some of my clients have been with me for five, six, seven years — I've sat with them through first jobs, marriages, kids, loss, and everything in between. Watching someone move through different chapters of their life, showing up differently than they did when we first met — that never gets old.
My approach is down to earth. I don't think therapy has to feel clinical or distant. I show up as a human working with another human, and I try to create a space where you can do the same. I give my clients a lot of autonomy — you know yourself better than I do. My job is to equip you with knowledge, perspective, and tools, not to tell you who to be.
I think people underestimate how significant it is to simply have someone there to listen. To hold space. To offer a place where you can show up exactly as you are, without fear of judgment. That's not a small thing. That's often where real change begins.
I work with adults navigating a wide range of experiences — anxiety, depression, mood concerns, trauma, ADHD, and some of the quieter but equally hard stuff: life transitions, adjustment, identity, boundaries, communication, and the kind of change that doesn't always have a name but feels significant anyway.
I bring a strong psychoeducation focus to my work because I believe understanding yourself is one of the most powerful tools for change. I was diagnosed with ADHD myself as an adult — at 31 — and that experience deepened both my understanding of the condition and my appreciation for what it means to finally have language for something you've been living with for years.
I also have a personal understanding of what it means to navigate unexpected health challenges. Life has a way of shifting the ground beneath you, and I think that lived experience makes me a more present and empathetic clinician.
Outside of work I'm fairly simple — I spend time with my family and my dogs, garden, do some stained glass and watercolor, hunt for antiques, and watch hummingbirds with a level of enthusiasm that probably says a lot about me. I'm basically 34 going on 90.
